Unit Description

Somerset Hospital is a 105 bed acute care community hospital located in the beautiful Pennsylvania Laurel Highlands in Somerset, PA. We are looking for a Registered Dietitian to join our established and close-knit management team. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, driven and potentially looking to obtain their CDE certification! In this role, your primary responsibility will be to manage and grow the Diabetes Education Center, including nutritional counseling, classes, community outreach and marketing of services. You will also provide inpatient care, as needed.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Dietitian with focused experience and interest in Diabetes Education

  • Provide nutritional care for a variety of outpatients and inpatients

  • Have a passion for community education and wellness and will coordinate and direct classes, support groups and community events

  • Be an integral part of the Sodexo Management Team and assist with oversight of hourly staff and Patient Dining Room Service meal delivery

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Collaborate with other hospital and community professionals as related to our mission and the services we provide

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition services

Key Duties

-Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.

-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.

-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.

-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexho resource when necessary.

-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.

-Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
